Attenders of the Round Table Exploration will observe a conversation between several people with differing views on LGBTQIA+ inclusion, hosted by Jer Swigart, Co-Founding Director of The Global Immersion Project. They will explore how to respect each other while holding different views. Jer will be joined by thoughtful and articulate individuals, some who hold an affirming perspective and others who hold a traditional perspective on LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Time for question and response will follow the discussion. The Round Table Exploration is open to regular Genesis attendees and the wider community. Lunch will be provided.
Please RSVP here.
Location: Bob & Geri Timperley’s home (Brooklyn Park)
These gatherings will provide an opportunity for regular Genesis attendees to connect with others at Genesis West in a more intimate environment as we listen to one another about our individual experiences of how our lives have intersected with and been impacted by LGBTQIA+ individuals. This will be a place for curious questions, honest dialogue, and space for fears and concerns because they will be guided by facilitators who understand how to create safe conversation. We’ll also have some group discussion guided by open-ended questions for our community to reflect with one another while members of the listening community and/or peacemaking cohort observe.
Clarifications of terminologies will be a part of each circle for the purpose of providing some common language. If you have more questions about listening circles, please feel free to contact anyone on the Listening Committee. These listening circles aren’t just for people who are undecided about what they believe about LGBTQIA+ inclusion; they’re for everybody to listen and learn together.
Please RSVP here.

The Genesis Vacation is our annual three day gathering at Covenant Pines, in McGregor, Minnesota. It’s restful and fun: we relax together, play together, and rest. In the mornings, some people love to linger around their breakfast table until almost lunch, while others love to take walks together. In the afternoons, the kids love attacking the climbing wall, the gym, and the playgrounds. At night, we sit around bonfires eating s’mores, we play black light dodgeball, and some choose to go to bed early.
If you’re looking for a way to connect with others at Genesis, please join us for lunch and conversation in the Parlor following worship. Enjoy a tasty lunch, sign up to join an established Community Group, or learn about new group possibilities. Have an idea for a Community Group you’d love to start? We’ll have a gathering spot at the Open House to share that as well. Questions? Contact Kara VerHage at karav@genesiscov.org

Why in the world would anyone want to be a member of a church? What's the point? Great question. Since Genesis West is congregational in our polity, membership isn't a benefit, it's a responsibility to serve the congregation.
At Genesis West, we welcome anyone who affirms faith in Jesus to be a member. There are just two steps in the process of being received as a member.
Attend a membership class.
Fill out the online application; the elders will review your application and get back to you.
Members commit to participation in the life of Genesis West through:
Living as an apprentice of Jesus;
Attendance, sacrificial giving of talent and resources, and praying for the vision of Genesis and its leaders;

Join Steve Wiens on Monday night, March 18th, from 7 pm - 8:30 pm for an interactive, conversational dialogue about what it means to cultivate attentiveness moment-by-moment. We believe God is actively at work at all times and places, always making all things new. Because we want to join that work, we’ll spend time praying for and seeking a restored way of seeing, hearing and sensing God, each other, and our own souls.
Join Steve Wiens on Monday, February 18, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm for an interactive conversation about how to practice restoration through mindfulness. Restoration is the idea that we are made new so we can join in God’s work of making all things new. But how are we made new? What role does the ego play to thwart restoration and how can you discover and live from your true self? We’ll cover these questions and more, and you’ll leave with a tangible practices that will lead to greater restoration in your actual life.
Community Meal happens on the first Sunday of each month, from 12pm - 1pm in the Parlor at Elim. Please join us!
